This is a splash page for Mr-RedX

Comic character Empress.

The character concept is quite interesting. Empress is an amazon type protector of the earth, kinda like powergirl meets poison Ivy and they have an illegitimate love child together type thing. very cool idea, I encourage you to have a look at Mr-Redx's gallery for more info on her and her lover Juu Lee (girl on her lap).

I enjoyed trying to get the right impression of sun filtered light on the two characters. I have never appreciated diffusion more! I think this is my first "pretty" image like...ever? I have mixed feelings

Done in Photoshop CS5.
Time: Over the last month and a half
It took me several tries, three full Wips later I managed to get it right.

It began and ended with a word.
Not a particularly strong or powerful word, but a word that changed everything. It wasn't too long or difficult to spell. It wasn't uncommon either. In fact, it was a perfectly ordinary word, but, I suppose, its commonplace origin is what made it so special.
I loved that word.
But the word doesn't mean much without the story along with it and I was always one for telling good stories.
